Grasse is a paradise for perfume lovers. About two years ago, I heard that there was a workshop in Grasse to make perfume by myself. I did not expect that I could really come here to experience it in the final student period.

The perfume factory I came to this time is Galimard, and there are three courses of perfume making every day, 10:00, 14:00, 16:00, and 2 hours of activity, but the space is limited, so I need to make an appointment several days in advance. My daughter and I went to her 19th birthday and we loved it! Lasts about 2 hours. We each sat in our own perfume station and at first it seemed overwhelming, but Irina, our scent consultant, was very helpful. After background and explanation of the three substrates, set us up as a perfume sample. You narrow down the choices, and then she helps the chemistry section, each filling a research cylinder that allows us to smell each of the three steps (bases). Then, in combination with the previous base, each of the next two bases is sampled (smelled).

Finally, you pack a glass of champagne and a lovely chocolate and biscuit tray, and the perfume consultant prepares your bottle, velvet bag and your "challenge certificate" (our joke on direct translation). We really enjoyed this and kept in touch with Irina - she was very informative and very interested in hearing and discussing the description of the smell. She was truly an expert in the field and made our experience memorable.

🌟 Activity process

Each perfume making class lasts about 1.5-2h, and the teachers will briefly introduce several layers of spices on the table before the activity starts.

The bottles of each spice are distinguished, such as the bottom layer is the Base Notes, the women's bottles are pasted with a short skirt sticker, the men's stickers are shorts, the middle layer is the Heart Notes, the Top layer is the Top Notes. These two layers are also genderized on the label, but it does not mean that girls can only use fragrances with female labels. The label is only a suggested fragrance choice, as long as it is placed on the table everyone can feel.

Along the way, the teacher repeatedly mentioned that you should not try to translate the name of each spice! The most important thing is to feel the smell of different fragrances through the nose.


After selecting the name of several flavors selected by yourself, fill in the form, and then wait for the teacher to come over to provide suggestions on the ratio of the selected flavor, if a spice is something you particularly like, you can also put forward with the teacher, you can appropriately increase the ratio of this flavor.

Each bottle of perfume needs to be prepared 100ml, the last tone of the middle and the first tone should be added into the measuring cup in three times respectively 50ml,25ml,25ml, and then mixed with a beaker and test tube. You can touch the inner wall of the measuring cup with a tasting strip to feel the mixed aroma.

After all the fragrances are mixed, you can choose the perfume bottle. The free bottle is the same brown round bottle as the perfume bottle, which can only be sprayed, or you can add 12 euros. There are several bottles with spray heads to choose from. Don't forget to give your perfume a name.

At the end of the event, everyone will be given a "graduation certificate" indicating the completion of the perfume course. Each certificate and perfume bottle will be printed with the number of the perfume.
