Visit the Miyagi Gorge distillery between mountains and rivers

Yamagata Tibetan king royal cauldron day

From downtown Sendai, go to Obe via the "Zo エコーライン" and enjoy a beautiful lake view of the crater. It is a symbol of the area and is known throughout Japan for its plight.

The temperature on the mountain is very low, about 10 degrees lower than the mountain, and it is uncertain, sometimes fog and sometimes wind and rain are not good, it is strongly recommended to check the good weather forecast, with good enough equipment to visit again.

When you get off, you must count the time, get off a total of two buses, the first one is 11.15, in the parking lot when you come, or the same bus back to the mountain hot springs, the second class is 15.30, the same situation. The scenery is fantastic and really worth a visit!

Whiskey distillery: Visit the Miyagi Gorge Distillery

Half an hour's drive from downtown Sendai is a landmark distillery for Japanese whiskey. Nikka Whisky was founded by Masataka Takesuru, the father of Japanese whisky. The Miyagi Canyon Distillery is Nikka's second distillery and was established in 1969.

The official website has booked the "Miyagi Gorge Malt Tasting Lecture" (full name in Japanese: Miyagi Gorge キーモルトティスティングセミナー) including two parts, distillery tour and whiskey tasting. It costs 1,500 yen per person and lasts about 90 minutes. The CP value is very high and highly recommended.

Tasting: A total of 5 wines
Recommended tasting methods: color → Smell (top tone) → gently shake → Smell (bottom tone) → Taste → Drink water → Add equal parts of pure water 1:1 → Shake and smell → Taste
Remember to eat something before you come and don't drink on an empty stomach.

Recommended hand ceremony: Yu City, Miyagi Gorge, bamboo crane small wine version

One of the joys of whisky is to drink different wines in comparison and discover their similarities and differences in the process. You can choose a representative from different producing areas and feel the differences in terroir between producing areas. It is also possible to drink the characteristics of different wineries horizontally from the same barrels.

Nikka's Yoichi and Miyagi Isthmus represent two very different styles. From Yuichi on the coast of Hokkaido using carboniferous direct fire distillation method, the wine is heavy and smoky with a hint of peat; The Miyagi Gorge, which is surrounded by forests and indirectly heated by steam, is light and supple with sweet floral and fruity notes. Bamboo crane is made from the above two types of harmony, thus meeting the need of "both want and want".

Distillation of the limited Miyagi Gorge three original wine

Each of the three original wines that make up Miyagi Single Malt has its own character. Being able to taste whisky alongside its original spirit is a rare opportunity to deepen your understanding of the flavour of whisky.

Distillation limited to a single Kofi grain raw wine Woody & Mellow

The sweet aroma of vanilla maple sugar coupled with a rich creamy texture is very popular with ladies. The Coffey still behind it is also a big deal, and this old still is so inefficient and difficult to operate that it has long been considered obsolete. However, because it can retain more flavor of the grain and produce a more mellow body, it has been used by the winery until now. The drink is not only the contents of the cup, but also the admiration for the persistence of Nikka founder Masataka Takezuru.
