The new landmark of Paris art, sitting at the Paris Stock Exchange for an hour!

The last half day of the Paris business trip included a visit to the Bourse de commerce - Pinault Collectio (Paris Stock Exchange - Pinault Collection). If, like me, you want to choose an art landmark in downtown Paris in a limited time, then this gallery is highly recommended.

Located between the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou in the heart of Paris, France, the layout of the Paris Stock Exchange is faithful to the symmetry of the city, with a domed hall at the center of the circular plan, and Rue du Colonel Driant, which runs through the very center of Paris, also runs right through the center of the rotunda of the Paris Stock Exchange.

The rotunda, formerly an open-air courtyard, was converted into a wooden dome that was destroyed by fire, and was rebuilt with an iron dome that Hugo described as "the English knight's cap" in "Notre Dame de Paris". Since its completion in 1763, the layout and structure of the Paris Stock Exchange building have remained the same. At the end of the 19th century, five different artists were invited to create murals on the trade history of the five continents, which have been restored several times and remain intact.

The French Pinault family bought this historic building that has witnessed five centuries of change, the Paris Stock Exchange, which is located in the circular former Stock exchange, because its predecessor was built in the 18th century, commissioned by the founder of the group Frangois Pinault, and renovated by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. The exhibition hall on the third floor is surrounded by a circular dome and a circular square in the center, displaying many contemporary works of art. However, it is believed that the opening of the museum is a mirror exhibition in the central square covered with mirrors, created by Korean artist KimSooJa, and it is indeed beautiful.


Today, the museum takes a fresh look at contemporary art from a new perspective, exhibiting Pinault's collection of more than 50 years, bringing together more than 10,000 works by nearly 350 artists from around the world, and providing visitors with a unique understanding of contemporary art through the eyes of collectors.

In addition to the art exhibits, the building itself is very attractive, the whole body is mainly cement white, with brown wood, the dome of the murals, minimalist with a solemn sense of solemnness.

The highlight of the renovation is a 9-metre-high cylindrical concrete wall that creates a central gallery beneath the 19th-century glass dome, while forming a new interior movement along the outer wall designed by Henri Blondel. Surrounding this cylindrical concrete room are staircases that lead up and down two floors. A circular walkway at the top of the building gives visitors a close look at the frescoes and the original details of the building. Below the exhibition space, concrete walls extend into the basement, shaping a foyer for the 284-seat auditorium. The original exchange building was restructured to include a gallery, reception and restaurant.
